Papa Joe, Jessica Simpson's father, is reportedly considering becoming Britney's new manager, after the pop princess sacked Larry Rudolph last week. Joe Simpson has looked after both Jessica and her sister Ashlee’s careers with great success and Jessica is said to be supportive of her father’s plans to help Britney, as they are no longer direct competitors, since her father guided her away from music and into making films and lucrative public appearances. Britney is said to blame her former manager, Larry Rudolph for making her go to rehab when she believes she was suffering from post natal depression. Mr Simpson, in contrast, is credited for keeping his daughters on the straight and narrow and so could be a good influence on Britney.

Paris Hilton was reportedly publicly humiliated by Prince at his Las Vegas concert recently. The diminutive singer invited the party-loving heiress up on stage with him and she delightedly accepted. However audience members then reported seeing Prince handing her the microphone and saying to the crowd, “Let’s see if she can really sing”. Paris apparently stormed off the stage and left the club shortly afterwards.

Hugh Grant has been arrested by police for questioning, following an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a photographer. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, "At 7:30 p.m. a 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the inquiry and taken to a central London police station. He has been bailed to return on a date in May pending further inquiries." The Bridget Jones actor is accused of throwing a container of baked beans at Ian Whittaker, a photographer who was trying to take his picture outside his London home. Another paparazzo, Darren Goff, told reporters, "Hugh just went off his head. He walked menacingly past me and chased Ian."

Britney might be getting her career back on track with energetic dance classes and sessions in the recording studio, but the pop princess found herself getting into a spot of bother with the law when she was pulled over for speeding. Beverly Hills cops let Brit off with a warning after she was stopped on Sunset Boulevard. Sergeant Mike Foxen told reporters, "She was pulled over for speeding. She was warned about her speed and let go. She was not cited."

The Beckhams have bought their new home in Los Angeles - a £10 million, six-bed mansion in Beverly Hills that Victoria found on her house-hunting mission earlier this year. David, who will be playing football for LA Galaxy, has only seen the property on mobile phone pictures. Mrs B has flown to America to sign the contract and interview prospective staff. One source said, "Her new NBC show starts in May so she needs a crack team to get everything perfect... They only went for six bedrooms and Victoria was anxious to create a modest, cosy family environment. They could easily have looked at some of the vulgar, sprawling 25 bedroom estates but neither wanted anything overly ostentatious."

According to Star magazine, Victoria Beckham is the bitch from hell to her staff. "We think she's full of herself and not very nice," says one of them. "She's very picky, demanding and rude. And she was mean to the assistants, too. She waltzes around with her icy attitude. People will walk up to her and say, 'Welcome to America', or, 'Good luck with the move', and she doesn't even stop to talk to them. The show is designed to make her a star in the States, but she's dreaming if she thinks that's going to happen. She's coming off as a grade-A bitch! No one knows what to do with her to make the show interesting - she's so boring! Every suggestion the producers make, she rejects."

Nadine Coyle [second from left] and Jesse Metcalfe have ended their relationship, according to Metcalfe’s spokesperson. The rep confirmed the split, saying, “They have decided to part ways" without offering any further explanation. The Girls Aloud singer first met the Desperate Housewives actor in Australia in February 2006 and they managed to maintain their relationship despite living in different countries. However Metcalfe recently entered a rehab facility to address alcohol issues and was allegedly spotted holding hands with another girl, although his rep said this was “simply untrue.”

"Parasite" Hilton seems to have already moved on from her most recent conquest, Desperate Housewives actor Josh Henderson. The Simple Life star was reportedly spotted getting cosy with James Blunt at hip LA hangout Teddy’s. Blunt has been linked with several starlets including Paris’ on-off pal, Lindsay Lohan since splitting with model Petra Nemcova at the end of March. Onlookers at the club claimed Paris and James, “were all over each other… They both ended up back at Paris' house."

The NY Post is reporting that Britney's father, Jamie Spears, has said publicly that his daughter has no one to blame for her recent problems but herself.  After hearing that Britney had fired her manager, Larry Rudolph, Spears senior emailed the American newspaper with the following message: "When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done. She was out of control… The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter's statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career." Britney hit back at her father by issuing a statement through her rep that said, "I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship. It's sad that all the men that have been in my life do not know how to accept a real woman's love.”
